Overview 

Axle is seeking a motivated and strategic Senior Manager of Business Development & Sales to support revenue growth and market expansion for Healthcare Technology Solutions serving provider organizations. This role will focus on developing and closing new business with hospitals, health systems, and physician groups, while supporting go-to-market strategy and key customer relationships. The right candidate will enter the role with an existing network and active book of business, and will be able to convert those relationships into revenue.   

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience selling healthcare technology to provider organizations, understands clinical and operational workflows, and can clearly articulate value to clinical, IT, and administrative stakeholders. Qualified candidates will reside within the Washington, DC or Cincinnati metropolitan area.  

Key Responsibilities 

Business Development & Sales Execution 

  • Drive new business development with provider organizations, including hospitals, health systems, and ambulatory groups

  • Leverage an existing book of business and industry relationships to accelerate pipeline creation and early deal conversion

  • Manage a pipeline of mid-to-large provider opportunities from initial outreach through contract execution

  • Support complex sales cycles involving clinical, IT, finance, and executive stakeholders

  • Develop tailored value propositions that address provider pain points such as efficiency, quality, compliance, and financial performance 

Account & Relationship Management 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with provider decision-makers and influencers

  • Support onboarding and early expansion of new customers in collaboration with implementation and customer success teams

  • Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing provider accounts 

Go-to-Market Support 

  • Contribute to provider-focused go-to-market strategies, messaging, and sales enablement materials

  • Collaborate with marketing, product, and clinical teams to align offerings with provider needs

  • Assist in responding to RFPs, RFIs, and procurement processes common to provider organizations 

Market & Industry Insight 

  • Stay current on provider industry trends, including care delivery models, reimbursement pressures, and regulatory requirements

  • Track competitive offerings and provide market feedback to inform product positioning and roadmap decisions

  • Represent the organization at provider-focused conferences, events, and customer meetings 

Qualifications 

Required 

  • 5–8+ years of experience in healthcare technology sales or business development

  • Demonstrated success selling to provider organizations (health systems, hospitals, or physician practices)

  • Proven ability to build and convert pipeline quickly, closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals in regulated enterprise environments.

  • Understanding of provider workflows, clinical operations, and healthcare IT buying processes

  • Experience managing multi-stakeholder sales cycles

  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills 

Preferred Attributes  

  • Experience with SaaS, digital health, data analytics, interoperability, or EHR-integrated solutions

Compensation

Sitting at the nexus of our Data Science and Biomedical Research divisions, you will oversee the strategic development and deployment of high-performance AI/ML solutions that empower federal health agencies, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS). You will define the long-term vision for integrating Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Agentic Workflows into federal research environments, moving beyond static analysis to active, AI-assisted discovery.

  • Platform Evolution (Polus): Spearhead the evolution of the Polus platform, transitioning it from a robust image analysis tool into a fully integrated, multi-modal research ecosystem. You will oversee the roadmap for new feature development, ensuring scalability, security, and interoperability across cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure) using containerized architectures (Docker/Kubernetes).

  • AI Governance & Compliance: Establish and enforce rigorous AI Governance frameworks. You will operationalize the NIST AI Risk Management Framework (RMF) across all projects to ensure fairness, interpretability, and compliance with federal ethical standards.   • Operational Excellence (MLOps): Optimize MLOps and DevSecOps processes to ensure the rapid, secure deployment of models from prototype to production. You will champion a culture of “automation first,” reducing time-to-insight for researchers by streamlining the transition from Jupyter notebooks to containerized, cloud-native services.

 

3. Business Development & Federal Growth (Capture Support)

  • Lead Solution Architect: Partner with the Growth and Capture teams to drive new business acquisition. You will serve as the Lead Solution Architect for major proposal efforts ($50M+), authoring technical volumes, developing win themes, and creating compelling solution graphics that demonstrate Axle’s technical differentiation.

  • Proposal Authorship: Personally write key sections of technical proposals, including the “Technical Approach,” “Staffing Plan,” and “Risk Mitigation” volumes. You will translate complex agency requirements into winning narratives that score highly with federal evaluators.

  • Client Liaison: Galvanize relationships with key federal stakeholders (Project Officers, CIOs, Lab Chiefs). You will act as the primary technical liaison, translating complex agency requirements into deliverable technical solutions and presenting these visions in competitive “Black Hat” sessions and oral presentations.

 

4. Mentorship of Data Scientists & Engineers

  • Interdisciplinary Team Building: Cultivate a high-performance, interdisciplinary team culture. You will manage and mentor a diverse group of data scientists, bioinformaticians, and software engineers, fostering an environment of psychological safety where “expert” scientific knowledge seamlessly integrates with “agile” engineering practices.

  • Continuous Learning: Drive continuous learning and upskilling initiatives. You will establish internal “Communities of Practice” for AI and Data Science, ensuring that Axle’s workforce remains at the bleeding edge of technologies like Graph Neural Networks and Federated Learning.

Required Qualifications: To effectively lead in this high-stakes environment, candidates must possess a rare combination of advanced academic training and battle-tested industry experience.

 

Education:

Axle is seeking a Senior Clinical Research Advisor to join our vibrant program team supporting the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), Division of Clinical Innovation (DCI), Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program located in Bethesda, MD. The CTSA Program is the single largest research program at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Through this program, the Division of Clinical Innovation (DCI) within NCATS invests annually to promote new methods and technologies that address bottlenecks and enhance the translational research pipeline to speed the delivery of new drugs, diagnostics and medical devices to patients. Currently, more than 50 medical research institutions across the nation receive CTSA Program funding toward this mission.

The selected individual shall provide the DCI Director with senior-level scientific program support in accomplishing the CTSA goals and objectives. 
 
Responsibilities:

  • Perform scientific program management support services virtually and/or onsite at the NIH in coordination with the DCI Director.
  • Apply expert knowledge and educational background in clinical research and translational medicine to support and coordinate vital activities executed by the DCI Trial Innovation Network (TIN), including surveillance of 50+ program hub award institutions.
  • Collaborate with NCATS and DCI to develop new TIN Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs).
  • Explore and contrast existing NIH funding mechanisms as potential formats.
  • Collaborate with DCI staff to gather data pertinent to the development of new TIN FOA(s).

Qualifications:  

  • Medical degree from an accredited university.
  • Board certified and licensed in a medical-related field or D.D.S. in a state, territory or commonwealth of the United States or District of Columbia.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in clinical trial research.
  • Required prior involvement in clinical trials as an investigator or medical monitor.
  • Well-versed in multiple disciplines, including the broad application of information technology; interpretation of information from a wide variety of sources including biological sequences and molecules; potential research uses of electronic health records (EHR); and issues related to clinical studies, clinical trials, and rare diseases.
  • Familiar with National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) human subjects’ policies; Institutional Review Board (IRB) policies and subject safety; and data sharing and confidentiality issues.

Overview

The DevSecOps Engineer supports the secure, scalable, and reliable operation of our cloud-native infrastructure. This role bridges development, security, and operations to manage production Kubernetes environments, strengthen infrastructure security, and drive automation across the technology stack. The ideal candidate brings a security-first mindset, strong operational expertise, and the ability to design and refine efficient, resilient systems through infrastructure-as-code, monitoring improvements, and modern DevSecOps best practices.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manages production Kubernetes clusters and Helm deployments to ensure stability, scalability, and performance.

  • Maintains and optimizes Docker-based containerized environments, including multi-container orchestration.

  • Identifies, assesses, and remediates security vulnerabilities across cloud and containerized systems.

  • Implements monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to support observability and operational excellence.

  • Automates infrastructure provisioning and configuration using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.

  • Designs and maintains CI/CD pipelines supporting secure, automated deployments.

  • Troubleshoots network, DNS, API, and distributed system issues.

  • Supports AWS cloud infrastructure including EKS, EC2, IAM, and VPC networking.

  • Documents infrastructure, standards, and processes to ensure consistency and compliance.

  • Collaborates with development teams to ensure secure, reliable deployment practices.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes operations and Helm-based deployments.

  • Proficiency with Docker and Docker Compose.

  • Advanced Linux administration skills across distributions.

  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch, etc.).

  • Strong scripting abilities in Bash, Python, or similar for automation and tooling.

  • Knowledge of security best practices, system hardening, and vulnerability remediation.

  • Proficiency with AWS services including EKS, EC2, IAM, and networking components.

  • Experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline design and maintenance.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.

  • At least 2+ years of DevOps/DevSecOps experience managing production Kubernetes environments.
