Axle is seeking a RRP Grants Management Specialist to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the National Cancer Institute (NCI) located in Rockville, MD.

Overall Position Summary and Objectives

This position will provide grant services to the Radiation Research Program in order to satisfy the overall operational objective of NCI/DCTD

 

Deliverables:

 

  • Conduct consultation to grant applicants and active grant awardees, to include follow-up within a reasonable timeframe – Weekly
  • Assists, support or attend internal or external meetings and/or workshops, to include assisting with, creating, or analyzing work products, collection and disseminating materials within a specified period. May include coordinating meetings with other divisions and offices. – Daily
  • Provides budget and portfolio analysis – Weekly
  • Acquires and maintains NIH grant policy knowledge through training, attending internal and external meetings, announcements. – Daily

 

Work Details:

 

  • Assist staff to manage and coordinate develop and maintain annual grant portfolio and provide administrative support for the Grants Management Branch for the review of grant applications and resolve which involves a wide variety of problems and situations pertaining to the grant functions. 1
  • Assist staff review grant applications for policy and regulatory compliance and report issues. 2
  • Conduct administrative and financial review of grant applications. 3
  • Creates and maintains a database for grant activities.
  • Create, update and maintain data tables and spreadsheets and prepare summaries and reports based on findings and analysis. 4
  • Performs queries, conducts analysis and produces reports.
  • Perform queries of grant management applications and systems and prepare summaries of results. 5
  • Assists in analyzing and preparing reports to track status of awards and funding.
  • Provides technical assistance developing and analyzing the organization’s grant program.
  • Assists with reviewing grant applications and preparing responses. 
  • Provides support and routine updates to staff.
  • Apprise staff of issues and problems that could cause grant awards to be late or delayed.
  • Communicate with appropriate Program Officer and Grantee Sponsored Research Administrator when questions arise.
  • Bring to attention of staff areas needing additional policies or procedures and contribute comments and suggestions on new policies, revisions, justifications for changes, etc.
  • Identifies grants that are ready for final processing.
  • Monitor the status of grant application proposal processing and receipt by the IC Review Program.
  • Work with staff on pre- and post-award activities, including the preparation of grant awards.
  • Collect and assemble documentation on grant applications that have been selected for funding for review and approval.
  • Reviews and assembles completed documentation and identifies pending issues or changes.
  • Resolve grant-related issues, working with scientific and administrative personnel and with similar staff of grantee organizations.
